Make it look nice!
A garden that produces food doesn't have to look like an industrial farm. With a few simple tricks, you can make your garden the coolest in town! And the best thing: You can even eat from it!
1) Simple and clean
You could also say "modern". "Simple" doesn't neccessarily mean that it's easy to create. Avoid having a colorful mess and go with basic shapes and forms, uniform colors and repetition. For instance: Grass. Round pots, different sizes, but all white. Or pots of the same size and shape and slightly different colors. You get the idea: There has to be a concept that becomes visible through repetition.
2) Industrial/Vintage
Wood, wood, wood. Everything made from wood. Be it old fruit crates or wine barrels. When planting them, make sure that you use some kind of landscape fabric to protect them from the moisture of the potting mix. Since wood is a natural material, it will rot at some point. Either be super-protective and spray them with water-repellent varnish or just leave them out in the elements. That way they won't last as long and you will have to replace them.
3) All natural
This method is the easiest, but can quickly get out of hand. Keep basic shapes in your garden. Walkways, beds, etc. should still be distinguishable.
